What historically goes on sale in golf and what rarely does, what to buy now versus wait for, and our top picks at live prices — with the real deals posted here when they go live in November.

Every November, golf sites publish a wall of “deals” that are mostly ordinary prices with a red banner. This page is built the other way round. It tells you, honestly, which golf categories have historically gone on sale over Black Friday and Cyber Monday and which almost never do; it tells you, per product class, whether to buy now or hold; and it shows the current live price of our top pick in each category, so that when a sale price appears you have a real number to compare it with.

The pattern is drawn from what actually discounted in November 2025, as recorded by golf media at the time, and from how the equipment release cycle works. We cite those records below. We do not repeat anyone’s percentages as a forecast, because last year’s number is not this year’s deal.

What historically goes on sale in golf

Two things drive golf discounts, and neither is Black Friday itself. The first is the equipment release cycle: most manufacturers announce their new drivers, woods and irons in January and February, and retailers discount the previous year’s models to clear them — so by November the outgoing generation of a club has been on the shelf most of a year and is the one that gets the markdown. The second is the consumables trade: golf balls, gloves and apparel are sold on volume, and multi-dozen ball promotions and sitewide apparel sales are how brands compete for it.

In the November 2025 sales, the categories golf media recorded as discounted were:

  • Golf balls, mostly as multi-dozen promotions from Srixon, Bridgestone and Vice. Titleist’s premium Pro V1 was the noted exception — a small discount on multi-packs, with the observation that Pro V1 balls do not typically go on sale except in bulk.
  • Laser rangefinders and golf electronics, including Bushnell lasers and a Garmin launch monitor.
  • Golf bags and push carts from several brands.
  • Apparel and shoes, as sitewide percentage sales from multiple brands — the broadest category of promotion recorded.
  • Clubs— drivers, irons, fairway woods and hybrids — with the deals falling on models about to be replaced rather than the current launches.

What rarely goes on sale

Clubs launched this year. A driver or iron set released in 2026 is, in the usual cycle, about a year from its first real markdown. Black Friday sales on clubs are overwhelmingly on the outgoing generation. If the club you want launched this spring, do not wait for November to discount it; either buy the previous model on sale or buy the new one at its price.

Premium tour golf balls.The most-played premium ball was recorded as not typically discounting outside bulk purchases. If a golfer on your list plays a premium ball, the “deal” is a multi-pack, not a price cut.

Anything from a brand you have never heard of promising extra distance. November brings out the unknowns at eye-catching prices. A club that is not on the USGA’s conforming list is not a bargain at any price, and a beginner who cannot yet hit a fitted driver gains nothing from a cheap one.

Amazon’s October sale

Amazon has run a fall Prime sale in recent years — Prime Big Deal Days ran on October 7 and 8 in 2025 — and as of mid-September Amazon had not confirmed whether an October 2026 event would run. If it does, it is the first place the electronics and consumables on this page tend to move. Since every buy link on this site goes to Amazon, that sale would show up in our live prices automatically; check the “as of” date under any button.

Our call for each product class, and the pattern it is based on. None of this is a price forecast — it is what has historically happened, applied to a beginner who may or may not be playing this winter.

Nets and mats do show up in holiday sales, but a net bought at full price in October and used every week beats one bought on sale in December and used from January.
Shoes and apparelWait — and let the wearer chooseSitewide apparel and shoe sales from multiple brands were among the widest-ranging Black Friday promotions in 2025. Combine that with the sizing risk of buying clothing for someone else and the answer is a gift card in November.

How to tell a real golf deal from a red banner

Compare with a price you saw before the sale.That is what the tiles above are for. A “was” price on a sale page is whatever the retailer chooses to print; the price the product actually sold at in October is the honest baseline.

Check the generation.The deepest club and rangefinder discounts are on outgoing models, which is fine — often ideal for a beginner — as long as you know that is what you are buying. Our reviews say plainly when a pick is the previous generation, as with the Bushnell Tour V6 Shift.

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday, November 27, 2026 — the day after US Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30, 2026, and many retailers run their sales across the whole week. Deals will be posted on this page when they go live; nothing on it is a sale price until then.

Do golf clubs go on sale for Black Friday?

The outgoing models do. Manufacturers announce new drivers, woods and irons in January and February, and the previous year's models are the ones retailers discount — in the winter clearance and again in November. A club launched this year is usually about a year from its first real markdown, so Black Friday rarely touches it.

Should a beginner wait for Black Friday to buy golf clubs?

Only if they are not playing until spring. A complete beginner set bought in November and left in the garage until April has not saved anything, and the January-February clearance is as good a window. If they are playing now, buy now. If you are buying a set as a Christmas gift, November is exactly the right time.

What golf gear is worth waiting for Black Friday to buy?

Previous-generation electronics — laser rangefinders and GPS watches — plus bags, push carts, shoes and apparel. All were recorded as discounted in the November 2025 sales.
