Why this site exists

Buying your first set of golf clubs is weirdly stressful. The moment you start looking, you are buried in words nobody explains — forgiveness, offset, cavity-back, MOI, game-improvement— and prices that swing from fifty dollars to two thousand for what looks like the same club. Most golf sites are written for people who already play. Tee & Tempo is written for the person standing at the very start, quietly wondering if they are about to waste their money.

Our whole job is to make that first purchase un-scary: plain-English picks, one clear safe default in every category, and guides that explain how the game actually works before they ask you to buy anything.

Who writes it

Tee & Tempo is written by Stephen V., a golf enthusiast — genuinely into this stuff — who remembers being baffled by every bit of the jargon. Here is the honest framing, because it matters: Stephen is not a teaching pro, and Tee & Tempo does not run a test lab.What he brings is the beginner’s-eye view and a habit of doing the homework: reading the manufacturer specs, compiling the numbers, cross-checking the independent reviews, and saying so plainly when a product does not hold up.

Every big golf publisher leans on a credential we do not have — a launch monitor in a lab, tour pros on staff, decades of tenure. We could pretend, but you would be right not to believe us, and it would be a lie. So we compete a different way: on a transparent, reproducible method you can check yourself. What we do — and don’t — do

• We do read the published specs, compare them honestly, name a single safe-default pick, and tell you when the cheaper option does the same job.
• We doshow live prices from the retailer and stamp them with a date — and when we cannot verify a price, we say “check price” rather than post a stale number.
• We don’t claim to have tested clubs we do not own, invent star ratings, or borrow a credential Stephen does not hold.
• We don’t let commissions pick our recommendations. If Amazon is the cheaper place to buy, that is where we send you, even when another link would pay us more.
